We are thrilled to see our second graders starting a new school year with a positive growth mindset! They learned the importance of believing in themselves through a writing activity reflecting on their strengths. They were also taught the power of “YET” when working towards their goals for the year ahead. This means that if there’s something they have difficulty with, instead of giving up, the word “yet” can be quite powerful! It also gives them hope, encouragement, and confidence to work a little harder. Other SEL lessons have taught them the importance of not tattling, how to handle situations when we feel we don’t belong, that it’s okay to be different, and qualities that make someone a kind person. As we moved further into the year, we wrote about “different shades of Fall,” and created our own.
“Place Value Spiders” too!
