5th Grade Fall Updates
In math, the fifth grade mathematicians learned many strategies to assist with multi-digit multiplication. Some of these included partial products, estimating products and using standard algorithm multiplication. The students also learned effective strategies for adding and subtracting decimals. Now the fifth graders are learning how to multiply with decimals. In our upcoming topic, the fifth graders will be studying how to divide whole numbers.
This month, our fifth-grade scientists have been immersed in the captivating world of astronomy. They're exploring the Sun's significance in our solar system and unraveling the mysteries of the Moon's phases. In recent weeks, students have gained a deep understanding of the Sun, its pivotal role, and the science behind the changing phases of the Moon. Hands-on activities have included creating Moon phase calendars, an Oreo Moon phase diagram as well as the intriguing topics of solar and lunar eclipses. Encourage your child to share their newfound knowledge and explore the night sky at home!
Additionally, on Halloween students had the opportunity to have a class party and create a fall wreath to bring home. Thank you to the PTA for the craft donation! We are looking forward to a fantastic fall!
